In 2026, the Re-enactment of the Coppa Toscana will reach its 29th edition
The Florentine association CAMET (Club Auto e Moto d’Epoca Toscano) has been organizing this event since 1996, driving the participants to ever-changing scenarios, immersed in the nature, history and art of Tuscany, without neglecting the food and wine delicacies of the area.
Among the many vintage car events, the re-enactment of the Coppa Toscana has carved out an important space for itself in the search for ever-new experiences for those who come from many Italian regions and from abroad.
The particular care of research and organization has brought the Coppa Toscana prestigious ASI (Automotoclub Storico Italiano) awards as “Premi Speciali” and “Manovelle d’Oro”, such as those received in the last two editions. The 29th Coppa Toscana is part of the prestigious and select series of events in the ASI “Circuito Tricolore“.
The themes chosen for the 29th Coppa Toscana are “fashion, sport, history and culture” which will take us through;
In Palazzo Vecchio, we will meet with the city’s institutions and visit the Salone dei 500. Here, the mystery of Leonardo da Vinci’s lost painting still lingers, as does the memory of the failed challenge with Michelangelo Buonarroti, the greatest painters of the time, who were supposed to depict the victories of the Florentine Republic: the Battle of Anghiari and the Battle of Cascina.
And yet today, paradoxically, the room is a celebration of the exploits of Cosimo de’ Medici, the first Granduca, by Giorgio Vasari. We will continue the guided tour in Francesco I°’s study, the room of Geographical maps, and Eleonora’s apartments
In Sant’Andrea in Percussina, we will visit the house where Niccolò Machiavelli lived during his years of exile, expelled from Florence after the return of the Medici, and we will have lunch in the Albergaccio hosteria, described by him in the famous letter to Francesco Vettori, his great friend.
In Piazza Santissima Annunziata, where we’ll be exhibiting our cars this afternoon, we’ll be immersed in an urban setting typical of the grand ‘400 Florentine era, often compared to a theater. We’ll also take a guided tour of the “Spedale degli Innocenti” Europe’s first orphanage. It was created to care for abandoned children, preserving the anonymity of those who abandoned them using the “rota” (wheel) system.
The building, designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, with its round arches on the porticoes, also served as a model for the building’s opposite and the portico of the church, so that the square, opening at the end onto Via dei Servi with a view of the cathedral’s Duomo, is a perfectly harmonious ensemble of shapes and colours.
The Gucci and Ferragamo museums, located in important historic buildings, offer magnificent displays and represent symbolic places of Florentine artistic and entrepreneurial creativity.
Saturday the 18th will be a day dedicated to sport, heading to Mugello to retrace the Mitiche Miglia of the epic road racing era, with its landscapes, hairpin bends, and passes between Tuscany and Emilia.
The journey then continues down to Scarperia and the entrance the “Mugello Circuit” racetrack, for trials in the “Mugellino” and laps on the track with the Pace Car, followed by dinner at the racetrack, overlooking the track.
For regularity enthusiasts, some time trials valid for the classification of the 29th Coppa Toscana will be organized.
During the event, the pressure switches will also be activated for the Alessandro Ercoli Trophy, now in its twentieth edition
The trophy honors Alessandro Ercoli, one of the pioneers of historic Italian motoring and a great enthusiast of the cars produced by the Florentine manufacturer Pasquino Ermini that competed with Ferrari and Maserati in the post-war years.
As per tradition, the company founded by Alessandro Ercoli and now run by his son Eugenio, the greatest Ermini collector, will offer to the winner of the 2026 edition of the Trophy a jewel of their exclusive Florentine workmanship.
